STUNNING 1940。This is such a gorgeous and elegant hat. Its beauty is timeless, and it will make an impact every time! The hat is made of crin, intricately worked to create a round crown, plus a wide brim made with several band varying in width. There is a velour band around the crown that ends in a bow at the back. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. Crin, also known as crinoline or horsehair, is a net-like material, easy to mold and is often used in the decoration of clothing, hats and accessories. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: AUSTELLE Fashion + Size label: 22 This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
