Vintage Black Velvet 1940s Hat with Black, Orange & Green 。This is a magnificent vintage hat from the 1940s\'! It is made of black felt. The slightly conical shaped crown is surrounded by a wide brim with beautifully topstitched detail. There is a grosgrain band around the crown, which ends in a bow slightly off centered at the front. From the bow there is a striking set of feathers resembling dove wings. What an elegant look! The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. Label: Hanley - Custom tailored by MEADOWBROOK - Plus a size 22 1/2 label This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
